My New Word

alacrity ~ eager willingness or readiness, often manifested by quick lively action

I first read this word in Pride and Prejudice. I love this word. I love words period! I am going to try and use this word in daily life. My children will stare in weird facial expressions the first few times but they will get it soon enough.

I might even try using the adjective "alacritous".

facesious - that was the word that my neighbour challenged me to learn when I was ten!! I've never forgotten it since!

Chrysanthemum - the word that I learned how to spell from memorizing nearly all four hours of "Anne of Green Gables"!! Still to this day, anywhere I go, more times than not...I'm the only one who can spell this!!!

But how do you pronounce it?

I love the new word!

I heard once of a woman who- every time she came across a word she didn't know, would write it down in a 'vocab' journal or something, and learn it and start using it in everyday life. I loved that. And have always meant to do it but never have.
